The film is a socio-critical piece of work and is meant to be thought-provoking. Immigration and emigration is the logical result of the ever growing social gap, which results in multi-cultural societies.
"Foreign" asks the simple question of "Are his origins a crime?".
The film portraits a Swiss lawyer with Arabic roots, who is experiencing prejudice towards his Middle-Eastern origins, although he was born and raised in Switzerland and fluently speaks German.
Timothy wants to raise awareness about this topic and to make people think twice, before judging a foreign person based on their ethnicity.
The film was written, produced, shot and edited entirely in Lucerne, Switzerland, with the support of dozens of companies, officials and crew members, working with a budget of about $2000 USD.
This was only possible through several sponsorships by Swiss companies, providing their equipment etc. at reduced rates.
"Foreign" was initially made as part of the application of Timothy Ross to a film school in Zurich, Switzerland. With the portfolio of everyone in mind, we eventually decided that we wanted to make it as extensive as possible.
The whole crew of "Foreign" is thrilled to announce the short film and is truly thankful for the amazing feedback we've already received.
